Megan's Musings Notice a change in this newsletter? Spiritsong Workshops is transitioning to a new name, Trillium, with a new logo and look. Trillium, which is the official wild flower of the state of Ohio, is a native plant found in the woods in spring. It has three petals, which is perfect because the triad represents different aspects of our business and beliefs−body, mind, and spirit; counseling, workshops/retreats, and corporate trainings; parent, child, and holy ghost; and male, female, and creator. In other words, choosing this seemingly delicate little plant as the name for this business was very purposeful. Another aspect of the plant that makes Trillium a good choice is its ability to push through the cold ground and bloom despite the unpredictable conditions of spring. For this ability, Trillium represents perseverance, rebirth, and hope. These are all qualities we need to draw on as we move forward in these unceratin times. Trillium has several events this spring to help you strengthen and honor these qualitites in yourself and learn to support them in others and celebrate the coming of spring.
Love and peace to you,
Spring Renewal for the Body, Mind, and Spirit Retreat

What is a Curandera?
A curandera, a chicana (woman of Native American and Hispanic descent), is a folk healer who practices complementary/traditional medicine. The traditional healing system involves herbs, massage, diet, prayer, spiritual medicine, and psychic healing. Types of curanderas are the yerbero (herbalist), the partera (midwife) and the sobador (masseur ). The curandera is thought to have been given the don de Dios (a gift from God) to heal the sick. Typically, the curandera integrates healing on three levels, the physical, the spiritual, and mental and is skilled to treat a vareity of illnesses. Traditionally, healers are highly respected and are frequently called upon by their communities. The Way of the Horse−Equine Facilitated Learning
Horses have captivated humans for centuries. They've been our companions, our transportation, our tractors, and recently, they have become recognized as our guides to greater self awareness and sense of well-being. Horses have developed a keen ability over the centuries for sensing subtlties in energy fields and therefore can provide a window into incongruencies a person may be experiencing in day-to-day living. Through simple activities such as grooming or leading a horse, we have the unique opportunity to learn about our own energy and reconnect with our feelings and motivations. To learn more about this fascinating interaction between humans and horses, please join Trillium and Natural Freedom for an open house and demonstration on Sunday, April 25, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Jeffers Horse Farm. For additional information on equine-facilitated learning and to get directions to the Jeffers Horse Farm, visit Natural Freedom. Dream Chests
