Tip for Simple Living

If Americans recycled every one of their paper milk cartons, and these were used to make new cartons, 3,689,244 tons of greenhouse gases would not enter the atmosphere.

The Importance of Connections

I recently led a mask-making workshop that turned out to be as important for me as it was for the participants. As a workshop leader it is very easy to get caught up in the idea that  each workshop needs to lead people through fancy, life-changing activities. This most recent mask-making workshop helped bring things into perspective. Although the purpose of self development workshops and retreats is to move towards greater consciousness,  the most important thing, the thing that really matters, is that people have an opportunity to come together and share their experiences. Despite all our fancy technology and the many committees and groups we belong to, the opportunity to connect with people on a real level seems to be missing for many.

Creating this sacred time and space for real connection is important to our happiness, well being, and health. Connecting with other people in a meaningful way connects us to our higher power, to God, to spirit, you get the idea. It reminds us that we are more alike than different, that we all are one.

In our fast-paced world of many distractions, we have to be intentional about creating this time for meaningful connections. Maybe it means joining a discussion group, attending a worship service or community event, calling an old friend, or writing a letter.  When we take a moment to reflect about connecting, we may find that many opportunities already exist in our lives if we only reach out.

Love and peace to you, Megan
